Demography and AIDS
In 2015, 36.7 million people throughout the world were living with HIV. Antiretroviral drugs have now been made available to more than half of these people (18.2 million) (UNAIDS figures). East and Southern Africa are the most affected, with 19 million HIV-infected persons. INED has conducted several research studies on such questions as HIV over the lifecycle; impact on mortality, quality of life, sexuality; experienced discrimination and health policies.
